What is Public Education?

Public Education is a division of Tri-State's Fire Prevention Bureau dedicated to the preservation of life through the education of fire safety for the local community.

How did this get started?

The Tri-State Fire District has always focused on public safety. Now in addition, Tri-State would like to teach people to take a proactive approach to the safety of themselves and others, as well as practice the philosophy of "give of yourself to others in need".

Is it just for kids?

Although there is a strong commitment to the safety education of children, there are numerous adult-oriented programs. Some of Tri-State's programs included.

  • Career Day visits to the high school for future firefighters and paramedics
  • Tours of the fire station and first aid instruction to help Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts earn merit badges
  • Latchkey or babysitting programs
  • Read-A-Book program in conjunction with our local library
  • Summer bicycle and water safety programs
  • Commercial and industrial fire safety inspections
  • Residential "Home Safety Inspections with recommendations"
  • "Clothes for the homeless" drive to assist area shelters
  • "Burn Camp for Children" fundraiser
